PROGRAM
Day 1: FOUM ZGUID
Arrival in Foum Zguid at your hotel where you will be welcomed with a refreshing tea. Afterwards, your guide will take you to visit the 500-year-old Kasbah Oum Hench.
Day 2: Foum Zguid -
Departure by 4x4 from Foum Zguid for a 2-hour off-road drive towards the Zaouiat Sidi Abdenabi oasis to visit the old ksar and the tomb of the marabout. We will then reach our guesthouse located a 10-minute walk away to enjoy a traditional lunch and relax with tea under the shade of acacia trees. You will spend the evening around the campfire with a hearty dinner.
Day 3: After breakfast, we will set off with the caravan of camels towards the nomadic school for approximately 3 hours of walking. We will have lunch with the children of the school and set up our camp to spend the night alongside the nomads and have dinner under the starry sky.
Day 4: In the morning, our caravan will head towards the highest sand dunes of the Sahara in Erg Chegaga, about 6 hours of walking in the sand. Along the way, we will have a lunch break under the shade of tamarisk trees. Once we arrive, we will set up our camp and you can benefit from the knowledge of our guide who will tell you about the nomadic life over a cup of tea. We will then appreciate the sunset over the vast dunes and enjoy a dinner under the stars.
Day 5: Heading to Oued Laatache, also known as the "river of thirst," for approximately 5 hours of walking, covering 16 km. We will have lunch under the shade of acacia trees. Upon arrival, the camp will be set up near the well where the nomads come to fetch water. We will have dinner under the starry sky in a warm atmosphere.
Day 6: After breakfast, we will proceed towards Oued Naame, the "ostrich river," for 5 hours of walking, covering 17 km, and we will have lunch along the way. Upon arrival and after setting up the camp, you can rest and appreciate the silence of the desert for a night under the celestial vault.
Day 7: In the morning, our caravan will depart for a crossing of the last dunes of M'Hamid. We will have lunch en route before arriving in M'Hamid El Ghizlane, marking the end of this incredible desert trekking experience.
NOTE TO TRAVELERS: The walking hours are approximate and depend on the physical condition of each individual. We will adapt to your walking pace.
